Logan, Aquinas, Prairie du Chien all finish a win from a state championship berth
A disappointing state semifinals for Coulee Region football teams, Logan, Aquinas and Prairie du Chien high schools.
While it’s quite an achievement to essentially be one of the final four teams still alive, all three fell on Friday.
Logan was looking to make its first-ever state championship berth, but fell 41-21 to top-ranked Notre Dame in Division 3. The last time the Rangers were in the state semifinals was 2013.
Logan finished the season 10-3.
Meanwhile, in Division 4, second-ranked Aquinas was going for the “four-pete.”
The Blugolds had won the last three state championships and were looking for a fourth, but lost 12-6 to No. 5 Racine St. Catherine’s.
The winning touchdown came with 7:35 remaining on a 3-yard run.
Aquinas finished the season 11-2.
In Division 5, third-ranked Prairie du Chien fell 26-25 to No. 1 Stratford, which scored the winning touchdown with 43 seconds remaining.
PdC finished the season 11-2.
