UW-La Crosse remains No. 20, as it gets set for regular-season finale and hopeful for playoff bid
With one game left of the regular season and playoff hopes on the line, the UW-La Crosse football team remained at No. 20 in the D3football rankings.
This, after beating UW-Whitewater 24-21 at home last week.
The Eagles (6-3) need to beat UW-Stevens Point (1-8) on Saturday, then hope the selection committee picks them for an at-large bid to the playoffs.
UW-L’s three losses this season have all come to ranked teams, including Division II’s then-No. 2 ranked Grand Valley State (9-1), which is now ranked fourth.
The other losses came to eighth-ranked UW-Platteville (8-1) and No. 19 UW-Oshkosh (6-3).
The last loss stings the worst and may be the reason the Eagles don’t make the playoffs, being they both have the same record.
The Eagles blew a 19-point, second-half lead in losing 34-33 to UW-O.
But the Titans’ season-finale is much different than UW-L’s bout with UW-SP. Oshkosh has to play UW-River Falls (6-3), which was ranked as high as 10th — which happens to be when La Crosse beat them 28-24 on Oct. 26.
