A 13-play, 78-yard, fourth-quarter touchdown drive got the 22nd-ranked UW-La Crosse football team the win over No. 10 UW-River Falls on Saturday.

Kyle Haas hit Tyler Bowman for a 2-yard score halfway through the fourth that gave the Eagles a 28-24 lead and eventual win at Memorial Field.

The two teams basically traded scores all afternoon with five lead changes and put together incredibly long drives — four of those scoring drives were 74 yards or more — while others ended on downs without any points.

The first touchdown, however, was an 8-yard drive by the Eagles (4-3 , 2-2), after Reis Jesco forced a UW-RF (5-2 , 2-2) fumble, which was recovered by Landon Oine.

Three plays later, Haas hit Wyatt LeMoine for the touchdown.

The longest play of the day, though, for UW-L was a 42-yard touchdown to open the second half by Gabe Lynch. The junior running back finished with 233 yards on 38 carries — both career highs.

Meanwhile, Haas was 19-for-33 for 171 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. UW-L had 29 first downs to the Falcons’ 17 and outgained them 430 to 339.

Next up, the Eagles face UW-Stout on the road. The Blue Devils are ranked just outside the Top 25.
