Logan-Central matchup in Round 2 of playoffs, while Holmen and Aquinas move on
It was one of the best games of the season, and a rematch is upcoming Friday in Round 2 of the Division 3 Wisconsin high school football playoffs.
That’s when Onalaska will host Logan, after both teams picked up Round 1 wins.
The third-seeded Rangers beat Waupaca 42-28, while the No. 2 Hilltoppers got by seventh-seeded Merrill 13-8.
Back in late September, Logan overcame a 22-point deficit in the second half to beat the Hilltoppers in overtime, 36-35.
Meanwhile, in Division 2, a redemption game happened in the first round, when Holmen beat Central 31-14.
The Vikings had lost to the River Hawks 36-17 a few weeks ago.
Now, Holmen (7-3) moves onto Round 2 and faces top-seeded, unbeaten New Richmond (10-0), which was unranked heading into the playoffs.
Central’s season ends at 5-5.
In Division 5, fourth-ranked and top-seeded Aquinas managed to get by No. 8 Edgewood, 14-10.
The Blugolds now put their 9-1 record on the line, hosting fourth-seeded Lodi on Friday.
