Studer sets UW-La Crosse career TD record, as No. 22 Eagles beat UW-EC
Jack Studer set the UW-La Crosse football team career touchdown receptions record Saturday, in helping the No. 22 Eagles snap a three-game losing streak with a 34-7 win over UW-Eau Claire.
Studer had eight receptions for 132 yards. His 9-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter made him UW-L’s career leader with 31 scores — breaking Scott Burnoski’s record (2001-04).
Studer is already second at UW-L in all-time receiving yards (2,793) and moved into third for career receptions (149), surpassing Jake Simuncak (2017-21). He sits behind Travis Bordeau (2007-10), who has 156, and Burnoski, who has 195.
Quarterback Kyle Haas had 260 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions on 24-of-32 passing for the Eagles, who didn’t give up a touchdown until late in the fourth quarter.
On the ground, Gabe Lynch had 91 yards on 12 carries and a touchdown for the Eagles (3-3, 1-2 WIAC), who had 25 first downs to UW-E’s seven. UW-L had 432 yards of offense and held the Blugolds to just 148.
Next up, the Eagles hosts No. 10 UW-River Falls (5-1, 2-1), which is coming off a 40-37 overtime win at UW-Stout. The Falcons’ only loss this season came 28-7 to No. 11 UW-Platteville, which beat UW-L 30-27 in overtime Oct. 5.
