Studer has 154 yards and a touchdown, as No. 6 UW-L beats NMU in home-opener
Jack Studer had seven catches for 154 yards and a touchdown in helping the sixth-ranked UW-La Crosse football team get 35-21 win over Division II Northern Michigan.
UW-L (2-0) again ran with dual quarterbacks. Starter Zach Weir was 16-for-22 for 214 yards with two touchdowns and an interception, while Kyle Haas was 7-for-8 for 126 yards with a touchdown and no picks.
It was a 7-7 game after the first quarter, before the Eagles scored 21 consecutive points, capped off by a Studer 63-yard touchdown reception from Weir.
NMU (0-2), which has now lost 14 consecutive games — two of those against UW-L — pulled within 28-14 early in the third, but never scored again.
NMU dominated on the ground with 269 yards to UW-L’s 103. The Eagles, however, had 340 yards passing to NMU’s 136.
