Steam split with division-leading Mankato, as Madison comes to La Crosse on Monday

A split Sunday for the La Crosse Steam softball team, in a doubleheader against Mankato, which is leading the league.
The Steam lost the first at Copeland Park 3-1, but bounced back with a 10-9 victory in the nightcap thanks to a five-run fifth.
The Steam (8-14) are 4-2 over their past six games.
Mankato (18-5) leads the Northwoods League by 4.5 games over Madison (14-10) and 9.5 games over La Crosse (8-14). Minot rounds out the league at 4-16.
The Steam are back in action at 6:35 p.m. Monday at Copeland Park against Madison.
