Willis with shutout and Makarewicz hits 2nd HR of season, as La Crosse Steam split pair with Madison

Back in action at Copeland Park, after a few days off, the La Crosse Steam softball team split a doubleheader Sunday with Madison.
The Steam won the first 4-0, behind a seven-inning shutout from pitcher Mackenzie Willis, who struck out seven and allowed two hits and two walks.
In the second inning, teammate Avary Makarewicz put the Steam on the board with her second home run of the season — a solo shot.
In the nightcap, the Steam lost 14-0.
La Crosse (3-10) plays again Tuesday at Madison, before heading back to Copeland to host Minot on Friday night.
