Loggers clinch playoffs, but are just 1-3 since 9-game win streak — host Mankato on Monday
After winning nine consecutive games, the La Crosse Loggers baseball team has hit a bit of a slump.
The Loggers are 1-3 since their win streak, splitting a pair with Eau Claire over the weekend.
Despite the recent setback, the Loggers did clinch a playoff berth for the second-straight season, winning the first half of the Great Plains East Division.
Last season, ironically, La Crosse was the worst team in the division the first half of the season, but clinched the playoffs with the best record the second half, and came within a win of getting to the Northwoods World Series.
In the weekend series, La Crosse won 7-3 at Copeland Park on Saturday and lost 19-4 at Eau Claire (15-19) on Sunday.
The Loggers (20-12) now host Mankato (17-14) for two at 6:35 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Copeland Park.
