Oakland’s Gohlke talk of tourney, but he came off bench vs. UW-Milwaukee to make the Big Dance
In getting to the NCAA tournament, Oakland’s Trey Townsed dropped 38 points to beat UW-Milwaukee in the Horizon League championship.
In the first round of the NCAA Tournament, another on Oakland emerged.
Jack Gohlke nailed 10 3-pointers, one shy of the tourney record, and scored 32 in leading 14th-seeded Oakland past No. 3 Kentucky.
Gohlke was 10-for-20 and was a 3 shy of the single-game record set by Loyola Marymount’s Jeff Fryer against Michigan in 1990.
Gohlke took 335 shots this season and all but eight were from beyond the arc.
He doesn’t even shoot layups during warmups. He came off the bench in the horizon league championship against Milwaukee.
