Aquinas bid for second consecutive state tourney ends against unbeaten Elk Mound

Second-ranked and unbeaten Elk Mound stayed that way after Thursday night, taking out the seventh-ranked Aquinas High School girls basketball team in the Division 4 section semifinals.
The Blugolds lost 51-35 at Arcadia High School in their bid to get to a second-consecutive state tournament. Aquinas (23-4) was runners-up last season.
Elk Mound (27-0) held the Blugolds without a field goal for over 8 minutes, 30 seconds in the second half on its way to a 14-2 run to put the game well out of reach.
