Onalaska’s Donarski, Tar Heels defense shuts down Wake Forest
A quiet game offensively for Onalaska native Lexi Donarski, but her North Carolina women’s basketball team shut down Wake Forest in a 58-50 win.
Donarski had two points, two steals, two assists, two rebounds and two turnovers in 37 minutes.
The Tar Heels (17-9, 9-5 ACC) got out to a 20-8 first-quarter lead and held the Demon Deacons (4-22, 0-14) to just 31.6% shooting for the game.
Donarski, who was coming off a 20-point outing in leading North Carolina, shot just two times — tied for the least amount of shot attempts she’s had this season.
North Carolina is back in action Thursday against No. 6 NC State, which they lost to 63-59 on Feb. 1.
Three of the Tar Heels last four regular-season games are against teams they lost to in a recent four-game losing streak, including NC State, No. 12 Virginia Tech and Duke.
