You can watch La Crosse native Lexi Donarski and the 24th-ranked North Carolina women’s basketball team tonight on ESPN2, as the Tar Heels get set to host Oklahoma at 8:30 p.m.
Donarski, a 6-foot senior guard, is averaging 10.2 points, 1.3 assists and 1 steal a game for North Carolina (7-4). She’s started 10 of 11 games, scoring a season-best 22 points earlier this month. Donarski is shooting just 36.8 percent from the field but is better from beyond the arc at 37.3 percent.
Donarski averaged 12.1 points for Iowa State last season, when she was named to the Big 12 All-Defensive Team for the second consecutive year.
The Aquinas High School graduate was Wisconsin’s Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior, when she averaged 24.2 points. She led the Blugolds to four state tournaments and two state titles — her last season was cut short before the championship due to COVID-19.
Donarski was a McDonald’s All-American and also a member of the Jordan Brand Classic girls national team.
