UW-La Crosse’s Ethan Gregg is the NCAA Division III cross country champion, while his team finished one point out from sweeping the title.
The senior became the second runner in UW-L history to win the race, which he did in 24 minutes, 2 seconds on Saturday. Brett Altergott, in 1997, is the only other Eagles runner to win it.
Gregg led the top-ranked Eagles to a second-place finish as a team with 159 points. Pomona-Pitzer (Calif.) won with 158.
UW-L has won three NCAA Division III team championships (1996, 2001, 2005). The Eagles have been Top 3 now 15 times.
