The importance of wins in Week 8 of the high school football season couldn’t be higher for a variety of reasons, and WKTY will feature two such games on Friday night.

Holmen at Logan

Logan hosts Holmen at Swanson Field, where both need to win out this regular season to make the playoffs.

Logan (2-5, 2-3) was unable to dig out of a 21-point hole last week in a loss to Tomah, and ultimately fell 35-29. The Rangers have been snake bitten in one-score games this year. Four of their five losses have been by one possession, with three of them being by less than 3 points.

Bradley Check and Johnny Leaver continue to perform on offense, especially running the football.

The two have combining for 1,583 yards and 20 rushing touchdowns.

After this week, the Rangers will face the Central Riverhawks.

Meanwhile, Holmen (2-5, 2-3) has won two of its last three games, after dropping its first four contests.

Coverage on WKTY will begin at 6:45 with Teague Fenwick on the call.

Baraboo at Onalaska

In the second game featured on WKTY, the first- and second- place teams in the Mississippi Valley Conference will face off.

Onalaska (5-2, 5-0) has shined in conference play under the direction of quarterback Adam Skifton.

The senior has thrown for 1,708 yards with 23 touchdowns and just four interceptions.

The big play has been a staple in the offense. The Top 5 receivers for Onalaska have an average reception of over 10 yards.

Baraboo (5-2, 4-1) has relied on a ground attack that has accumulated over 1,700 yards as a team and 16 touchdowns.

Both teams have clinched berths to the WIAA playoffs.

Coverage for this matchup begins at 6:50 p.m. with Drew Kelly and Tyler Bailke announcing. You can also hear it live on 96.7 FM / 580 AM.
