WKTY Cares about the Mini Donut Foundation
WKTY Cares presented a $1,000 check this month to the Mini Donut Foundation.
Thanks to sponsors Kratt Lumber and Performance Foodservice for the donation.
The Mini Donut Foundation in Onalaska runs a suicide education committee aimed at raising awareness in schools and at mental health conventions. Money raised is given to local various charities and organizations that are affiliated with suicide prevention and education, as well as other mental health initiatives.
The name “Mini Donut” comes from Mike “Oly” Olson who lost his life to suicide at age 59. Oly, from Onalaska, operated Oly’s Mini Donut Express for years and brought happiness to countless people.
You can learn more about the Foundation and their upcoming 5K event here. This event brings together hundreds of folks from the Coulee Region to raise awareness about suicide. The Mini Donut founders created the yearly race as a way to honor family members lost to suicide.
