Northwoods League — home of La Crosse Loggers — announces record attendance for 30th season
The Northwoods League, in which the La Crosse Loggers baseball team is a part of, announced Monday that it set an attendance record for the 2023 season.
The league announced 1,313,916 fans attended games, which included two all-star contests and the playoffs, in which the Loggers made it to within a half-inning of getting to the league World Series.
The Northwoods previous record was set in 2019 at 1,262,610 fans.
“This historic accomplishment is a testament to the dedication of our players, the passion of our fans, and the unwavering support of our host families and partners,” Northwoods League President, Ryan Voz said in a statement. “The Northwoods League has become a beacon of summer enjoyment, and breaking the attendance record is a testament to the League’s profound impact on communities. We are immensely proud of the strides we’ve made and the memories we’ve created, and we eagerly anticipate an even brighter future.”
Next season could blow this one’s out of the water, if the Northwoods League includes attendance from its inaugural softball season in 2024 — though that will likely be a separate attendance category.
WIZM News in La Crosse broke the story that Loggers owner Dan Kapanke had made an announcement to the city’s parks board back in February and the league made a formal announcement in May, including an interview on La Crosse Talk PM.
