Aquinas moves on to state title, while West Salem falls in semifinals

GREEN BAY, Wis. — Autumn Passehl scored 24 and Macy Donarki added 21, as the Aquinas High School girls basketball team beat Mishicot 79-55 in the opening round of the Division 4 WIAA state playoffs.
Donarki scored a basket and the foul with 4:02 remaining to put the Blugolds up 77-44 — their largest lead of the game at 33 points.
Top-ranked Aquinas (28-1) will play No. 7 Laconia (26-4) in the state title around noon Saturday at the Resch Center.
Laconia beat Colfax 58-35 in the semifinals.
In Division 3, sixth-ranked West Salem fell 46-34 to Kewaskum.
The Panthers (26-3) were outscored 29-20 in the second half, after trailing by three at the break. They shot 29.6% from the field, while Kewaskum shot 34.9%.
