Cochrane-Fountain City’s Pronschinske, Duellman, Onalaska’s Putz win state XC; C-FC girls win team title
A big day for the Cochrane-Fountain City High School cross country teams at the WIAA state tournament Saturday.
Both Wesley Pronschinske and Addy Duellman won the individual titles on the boys and girls side.
Duellman’s championship (18 minutes, 58.1 seconds), which was 10.3 seconds ahead of second place, helped the C-FC girls win the Division 3 team title, as well.
Senior teammate Reese Ehrat finished seventh (19:38.3) for the C-FC girls, who now have four state titles — the last in 1999.
The last C-FC runners to win individual state titles came three consecutive years back in 1995-97 with Rachel Earney winning the first two and her sister Selina Earney winning the last.
For the senior Pronschinske, his 16:08.9 time was the fourth-fastest in state history and was 8.1 seconds ahead of second place.
Meanwhile, Onalaska sophomore Manny Putz won the Division 1 boys individual title with a kick at the end that edged second place by point-two seconds.
Putz finished in 15:26.7, while Oconomowoc senior Zach Vance came in second at 15:26.9.
In Division 2, the West Salem girls finished eighth and the boys ninth as a team.
