The University of Wisconsin men’s basketball team gets a challenging opening game for its Big Ten Tournament opener.

The second-seeded, 12th-ranked Badgers will play Michigan State at 5:30 p.m. Friday — a team they split with during the regular season, winning 86-74 in Madison after losing three weeks prior, 70-62 at MSU.

La Crosse native Johnny Davis is expected to play, after being hurt last Sunday on a flagrant foul that caused him to miss most of the second half of the regular-season finale.

Against Michigan State this year, Davis had somewhat mixed results.

He scored 25 points in both games. But, in the loss, he was 8 of 20 shooting, as Michigan State coach Tom Izzo said at the time they were completely focused on trying to make every shot tough for the sophomore.

In the win, Davis was a ridiculous 8-for-11 shooting, including 2 of 4 from deep.
