Holmen boys wrestling, Onalaska girls hockey finish WIAA state runners-up

A couple of local teams finished state runners-up over the weekend.
The Holmen High School boys wrestling team fell to undefeated Kaukauna 35-24 in the Division 1 championship Saturday at the UW Field House.
The third-seeded Vikings finished the season 19-6. They beat No. 6 Arrowhead 42-35 to open state Friday, and got by second-seeded Marshfield 38-31 later in the day.
Also getting to the state title was the Onalaska girls hockey team.
The fourth-seeded Hilltoppers upset No. 1 Xavier 3-1 in the state semifinals Thursday.
Saturday, second-seeded D.C. Everest took the championship 5-0 at the Alliant Energy Center over Onalaska, who finished the season 24-5.
