Today in our Classic Sports Moment we’re going back to 2001 to watch Cal Ripken Jr.’s final MLB at bat.

Cal Ripken was the definition of “Iron Man” having gone nearly 17 full years (or 2,632 games) without missing a single game, en route to smashing the once considered “unbreakable” streak of Lou Gehrig’s which stood at 2,130 consecutive games, for 56 years.

However, it was on This Day in Sports History (4/19/1999) that Cal was finally placed on the DL dealing with a back-issue. Ripken would go on to play for another season and half however, and in today’s Classic Sports Moment, we’re looking back at the final at-bat for a true Major League legend.
