Badgers get Penn State to open B1G tourney — an opponent La Crosse’s Davis scored 17 against last time
The University of Wisconsin men’s basketball team begins the Big Ten tournament today.
The sixth-seeded, unranked Badgers (16-11) will play 11th-seeded Penn State (11-13).
The Nittany Lions beat Nebraska 72-66 last night.
Wisconsin split back-to-back games against Penn State this season back on Jan.30 and Feb. 2. Wisconsin lost the first game on the road 81-71, before winning the second at the Kohl Center 72-56.
La Crosse native Jonathan Davis had a career game in that one. The 6-foot-5 freshman had 17 points, nailing all four of his 3-pointers — both career highs — to go with three steals and four rebounds. He also had six turnovers in 18 minutes — another career high.

The winner plays in the quarterfinals against third-seeded, fifth-ranked Iowa, which just beat the Badgers in the regular-season finale.
