Aquinas, Onalaska get No. 1 seeds in WIAA girls hoops playoffs
Two area high school girls basketball teams earned Number 1 seeds for the upcoming WIAA tournament.
Aquinas (17-0) heads into the Division 4 bracket with a top seed and first-round bye.
In Division 4, Onalaska (11-3) also got a No. 1 seed and bye and will play Feb. 12.
The first round begins Feb. 9 and includes fourth-seeded Tomah (7-10) hosting No. 5 Logan (0-8). The winner plays Onalaska.
Also getting a bye is West Salem (8-1), seeded second in Division 2. The Panthers will play the winner of No. 3 Sparta (3-7) vs. sixth-seeded Black River Falls (4-11).
Aquinas will host either fourth-seeded Arcadia (7-7) or No. 5 Mondovi (7-5).
With the WIAA adjusting divisions, Holmen (4-6) and Central (3-3) are moving up to Division 1.
Holmen has the third seed and hosts No. 6 Eau Claire Memorial (6-9), while No. 4 Central hosts fifth-seeded Marshfield (6-12).
