Braun to first base with Garcia signing?

The Milwaukee Brewers outfield just got overcrowded. Christian Yelich, Lorenzo Cain, Ryan Braun will be joined by Avisail (ah-VEE-sah-eel) Garcia, who’s agreed to a two-year, $20-million contract, according to the MLB Network.

The signing hints that the Brewers, may not be making a trade, but could be moving Braun to first base — a position still vacant from Eric Thames’ free agency. He still remains unsigned.

Garcia turned down multiple three-year deals, including from Milwaukee, because the collective bargaining agreement expires in two years, where he believes he can earn more.

Garcia hit .282 with 20 homers and 10 steals over 125 games last season with the Tampa Bay Rays.

That was a bit of a down season, after becoming an all-star in 2017 for the Chicago White Sox, posting a .885 OPS.

Milwaukee has now added catcher Omar Narvaez, infielder Luis Urias, and starting pitchers Eric Lauer, Brett Anderson, and Josh Lindblom this offseason, after losing all-stars Yasmani Grandal and Mike Moustakas in free agency.
