Hawks trade Schröeder for Carmelo & a 1st round pick, then will likely waive 34-year-old
Carmelo Anthony appears to be headed to Atlanta.
The Hawks appear to be sending Dennis Schröder to Oklahoma City for Anthony and a protected first-round pick (1-14).
Atlanta will immediately waive the 34-year-old Anthony, who is rumored to be interested in joining the Houston Rockets. Anthony would make $27.9 million this season.
The 24-year-old Schröder is owed $45 million over the next three seasons.
Anthony had career lows in scoring, field-goal percentage, free-throw percentage and assists. He averaged 16.2 points, shot 40.4 percent from the field and 35.7 from beyond the arc.
Schröder is coming off the best season of his five-year career when he averaged 19.4 points, 6.2 assists.
To complete the deal, the 76ers will also be part of the deal, getting Mike Muscala from the Hawks. Philadelphia will send Justin Anderson to Atlanta and Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrott to the Thunder.
