Packers cut TE Martellus Bennett for not disclosing physical condition
Martellus Bennett is no longer on the Green Bay Packers.
The team released the tight end Wednesday with a “failure to disclose a medical condition” designation, according to ESPN.
By cutting Bennett with that designation, the Packers can file a grievance to reclaim $4.2 million in remaining prorated signing bonus money.
The #Packers paid TE Martellus Bennett $8M of his 3-year, $21M contract. The only tangible benefit to cutting him with the failure to disclose is if they argue his entire contract is void & go after his money. This isn’t over just yet.

The 30-year-old signed a three-year, $21 million contract March 10, that included a $6.3 million singing bonus. He was listed on the Packers injury report with a shoulder ailment.
All 31 teams have until 3 p.m. Thursday to submit a claim to Bennett off waivers.
In late October, Bennett, who had 24 receptions for 233 yards in seven games, posted on Instagram he’d retire after the season. He hasn’t played since. The post was deleted.
Like his brother, Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett, the tight end has been vocal on social justice issues while with the Packers.
