UW-L women’s soccer hosting first rounds of NCAA tournament
The first two rounds of the NCAA DIII women’s soccer tournament will be hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
The 15th-ranked Eagles (17-1-3) are 9-0-2 home at Veterans Memorial Field this season, as they get set to take on St. Scholastica (16-6-3 at 11 a.m. Saturday in the first round. They have outscored those opponents 30-5 at home.
UW-L, which is the only ranked team in the four-team bracket, will play either Wartburg (10-5-4) or St. Thomas (12-3-3).
If the Eagles get through the first two rounds – the second round is at 1 p.m. Sunday – their highest-ranked opponents coming out of the other regional are 19th-ranked Loras (14-1-3) and 23rd-ranked Wheaton (13-4-3).
This is the second-ever NCAA tournament for UW-L, which set a school record for wins this season. The Eagles lost in the first round of the NCAAs in 2015.
