Caledonia looking to get back to state for 10th time in past 11 seasons
The last time Caledonia High School’s football team lost was Nov. 15 … 2014.
That was the Class AA state semifinal game against BOLD, which won 21-0.
Thirty-five wins and three state championships later, the Warriors could face their biggest challenge since … well, since earlier this season.
Caledonia will play Triton (9-1) at 8 p.m. today. We’ll have the call on Classic Hits 94.7 FM (click “LISTEN LIVE” online) from Rochester Community and Technical College with pregame at 7:45 p.m.
Back on Sept. 8, Caledonia narrowly defeated Triton 34-27. At one point, however, the Warriors were down 27-7 with 8 minutes to go in the third quarter before making the comeback.
Caledonia coach Carl Fruechte said his team dropped too many balls in that first matchup.
We don’t catch it, then we’re going to be in trouble. I don’t want to hear any excuses about weather or cold or all that baloney.”
Caledonia is looking to get back to the MSHSL state tournament for the 10th time in the past 11 seasons. The Warriors have been to and won seven state titles dating back to 2007.
