Onalaska High beginning talks of joining co-op for hockey
Onalaska High School’s hockey team could be joining with the Central/Logan team.
“La Crosse has had some conversations, as other schools in our conference have, and this was kind of the initial conversation,” Onalaska athletic director Charlie Ihle said.
Ihle says the discussions have a long way to go, including deciding things like transportation costs, and getting ice time.
“That’s always part of the equation, when you think of overhead cost,” Ihle said. “There are all kinds of logistics and decisions that you consider.”
Logan/Central plays at the Green Island Ice Arena, while Onalaska plays at the Omni Center.
Onalaska has its own boys and girls teams, though the junior varsity has to join another team because of low numbers. Ihle said the varsity numbers at this point are olid.
The move wouldn’t happen til next year if approved.
