Believe it or not, high School football officially began this week.
The first game, now just two weeks away, which isn’t much time.
“You’re not going to be able to put in everything you want to put in on offense in two and a half, three weeks,” Onalaska coach Tom Yashinsky said.
The Hilltoppers are coming off a 10-3 season but lost a talented senior class.
Regardless, Yashinsky didn’t go easy on his team when it came to the nonconference schedule.
Onalaska opens the season Aug. 18 at River Valley, which was the runner up in Division 4 last season.
“I did want a schedule that’s a little bit more difficult,” Yashinsky said. “If you play easy teams, it doesn’t get your ready for Holmen, Week 3, when we get into conference play.”
