Kendall had been drafted in the 30th round by Boston after high school

One of the best baseball players to come from the Coulee region will be on the fast track to the big leagues now.

Jeren Kendall, a former standout from Holmen High School, was picked by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the first round of the MLB draft Monday.

Kendall was seen as a sure fire pick after finishing his junior year at Vanderbilt University.

It was just a question of who would take the speedy outfielder. The Dodgers took him 23rd.

Kendall just completed his junior year at Vanderbilt University, where he hit for over .300 during his three year run, stole 67 bases and knocked out 32 home runs.
