OSHKOSH, Wis. — The Milwaukee Bucks have announced the naming of its new D-League Franchise starting up in Oshkosh.

The team will be called the Wisconsin Herd.

A private firm is currently buidling a 3,500-seat, $18-million arena for the Herd (rendering below from NBA).

La Crosse was one of the finalists for the Bucks D-League franchise, playing at the La Crosse Center, which is undergoing $40 million in renovations.

Talks between the team and La Crosse city officials, however, were minimal. It was out of the running by August. Oshkosh was awarded the franchise in February.

Details into the Center’s $40 million renovation or even the possibility to naming the La Crosse Center’s court after the late Flip Saunders, were not part of the conversation with the Bucks.

Saunders led the La Crosse Catbirds to two titles at the Center, before becoming the GM and head coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves. He passed away from complications with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma on Oct. 25, 2015.

A logo for the Herd will be unveiled on June 22. The Bucks chose the “Wisconsin Herd” to reflect the NBA team’s brand and connections to the state.

Season tickets for the inaugural season of the Wisconsin Herd are available now here. Tickets for all 24 regular season home games begin at just $192.

Premium season ticket memberships are also available, giving fans access to exclusive club spaces offering high-end amenities, complimentary food and beverage, and the best VIP experience in the Fox Valley.
