Boushley ends career with loss, but is Eagles all-time leader in multiple categories
WHITEWATER, Wis. — A third consecutive trip to the College World Series was thwarted Monday.
The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse baseball team just didn’t have an answer for Concordia.
The Cougars end the Eagles’ run to the College World Series with a 17-3 blowout. UW-L (31-19) just didn’t have an answer for Concordia (33-11), which beat the Eagles 14-0 on Saturday.
Concordia had 17 hits. UWL left 15 runners stranded.
The Cougars handed Caleb Boushley only his third loss of the season – the first came against a no-hitter and the second came against the No. 3-ranked team in Division III.
Boushley, who opened the Midwest Regional on Thursday with a win, gave up nine hits, seven runs and a walk, while striking out five in six innings.
The Hortonville, Wis., native finishes the season with a school record 106 strikeouts. Boushley ends his career as UWL’s career leader in wins (24), innings (264⅔) and strikeouts (227).
