Eagles to play 10 a.m. Thursday
Despite losing in the championship game of last weekend’s WIAC tournament, the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse baseball team is headed back to the NCAA tournament.
UW-Whitewater, ranked third in Division III, earned an automatic bid and will host the eight-team NCAA regional.
Monday, the Eagles (28-17) received an at-large bid and are looking for a third consecutive College World Series berth – the first of which the Eagles lost in the National Championship.
At 10 a.m. Thursday, fifth-seeded UW-L will open with No. 4 seed St. Scholastica (32-8), which is ranked just out of the Top 25 poll from D3baseball.com.
It’s the fifth trip to the national tournament in the last six seasons.
