The 27-year-old hasn’t had 1,000 yards since 2013

MINNEAPOLIS — A person with direct knowledge of the contract has said wide receiver Michael Floyd has agreed to sign with the Minnesota Vikings.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity Wednesday because the one-year deal worth $1.5 million had yet to be announced by the team.

The St. Paul native is still serving a 120-day sentence under house arrest in Arizona as part of the sentence he received Feb. 17, but the former Cretin-Durham Hall High School star will soon be back in Minnesota.

Floyd finished last season with Super Bowl champion New England. The 27-year-old was cut by Arizona after his arrest for drunken driving, an abrupt end to his time with the Cardinals after they drafted him in the first round in 2012.

In 2013, Floyd caught 65 passes for 1,041 yards and five touchdowns but hasn’t eclipsed 1,000 yards since.
