Koenig leads Badgers in scoring,
while Thomas just set career highs in 3s, points
Both Bronson Koenig and Matt Thomas have been closely watched growing up in the Coulee Region.
Both were 2013 graduates – Koenig from La Crosse Aquinas and Thomas from Onalaska High – who have gone on to successful careers at the highest level of college basketball.
Both are seniors helping lead their respective teams this season – Koenig, a 6-foot-3 starting point guard for the 15th ranked Wisconsin Badgers (17-3) and Thomas, a 6-5 starting shooting guard for Iowa State (13-6), sitting just out of the Top 25.
And, as their careers wind down, it leads us to this question:

Since his freshman year, Koenig has played a key role in the Wisconsin’s success.
He’s played a prominent role in the Final Four twice – losing to Duke in the championship as a sophomore and to Kentucky in the semifinals on a buzzer-beating 3-pointer his freshman year.
Now, he’s leading the team in scoring (14.6 points), while shooting 41.3 percent from beyond the arc (57-for-138).
Thomas has not seen the same success, but has started on and off since his freshman year and stepped into the spotlight more this season.
Tuesday, Thomas scored a career high 25 and hit a career high going 7-for-10 from beyond the arc.
The guard is averaging 11.7 points, while shooting 39.8 percent from beyond the arc (45-for-113).
