Onalaska’s Duin, Logan’s Whitesell named honorable mention

Three outstanding high school football careers are capped off with all-state honors from the area.

Pepin/Alma’s Caiden Haake was named to the Associated Press first team at the all-purpose position.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound running back rushed for 1,704 yards and 32 touchdowns on 218 carries in leading P/A to a 10-2 record.

Getting second-team honors were both Holmen RB Seth Wilson and Onalaska receiver Jalen Sample.

The 5-11, 195-pound senior finished the season with 2,027 yards and 33 touchdowns for the Vikings (7-4). After the season, Wilson announced he would attend for North Dakota State on a football scholarship.

Sample, a 6-4, 190-pound senior, had 72 receptions for 1,408 yards and 22 touchdowns on the season.

Also making the team as honorable mentions were Onalaska quarterback Brayton Duin, Logan defensive lineman Javon Whitesell, Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau linebacker Butch Haines, Bangor offensive lineman Garrett Krueger and Arcadia defensive lineman Jacob Lallemont.
