Viterbo sweeps Ozarks in first round at NAIA tourney
V-Hawks play at 1 p.m. Wed. vs. No. 18 Carroll (Mont.)
SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Consecutive win No. 37 came fairly easy for the Viterbo University volleyball team to open the NAIA tournament.
The V-Hawks took down College of the Ozarks 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-15) in the first match of pool play.
At 1 p.m. Wednesday, Viterbo (40-2), which entered the tournament ranked No. 2 in the final NAIA poll, will take on No. 18 Carroll (Mont.). At 3 p.m. Thursday, the V-Hawks will play No. 15 Doane (23-8) to wrap up pool play.
The top two teams in the pool move on to the single-elimination portion of the tournament beginning Dec. 2.
Against Ozarks (29-13), Natalie Geidel had 17 kills, Amelia Grahn had 42 assists and Baylee Gross added 23 digs to lead the V-Hawks.
