As the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball gets set for tonight’s NCAA tournament opener, two players were awarded all-region honors today.
Setter Madison Entinger and outside hitter Stephanie Henk were selected first team AVCA All-Midwest Region.
At 5:30 p.m. tonight, at Northwestern University in St. Paul, the 15th-ranked Eagles (22-5) take on St. Thomas (22-8), which finished just outside the Top 25 rankings in this week’s coach’s poll.

UW-L defeated St. Thomas 3-1 on September 9.
There are eight teams in UW-L’s regional, led by top-seeded and 18th-ranked Northwestern (30-4), which is hosting.
If the Eagles win tonight, they could possibly play Northwestern tomorrow – a team they also beat 3-1 back on September 10. At 9 p.m., Northwestern plays St. Norbert (16-14).
Moving on already in the bracket is Gustavus Adolphus (23-7). California Lutheran (25-4) is playing Concordia (23-7), out of Mequon, Wis.
UW-L earned an at-large bid for the second consecutive season to the NCAAs, after losing in the WIAC tournament championship to 11th-ranked UW-Whitewater (27-6), which is hosting its own regional and plays Greenville (25-7) at 8 p.m. tonight. UW-Oshkosh (28-7), ranked 17th, is playing Bluffton (23-8) right now.
This is the 14th appearance by UW-L in the Division III tournament.
