The Division 1 preliminaries of the WIAA State Track and Field meet wrapped up early Friday afternoon.

Heading into tomorrow’s Division 1 finals at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, it’s a a pair from Holmen that have put themselves in good position.
Both will run in the 100-meter dash. Holden was sixth (11.25 seconds) and Zmolek was seventh (11.26).
Those two, along with Seth Wilson and Ryan Bennett led the 400-relay team to the second-fastest preliminary time (42.33). Brookefield East was 1.11 seconds faster.
Zmolek will also run the 200. He had the third-fastest time today (22.23) – 21.99 was fastest.
Holden will also run in the 400, where he took the last qualifying position by .0003 seconds.
Central had one athlete medal. Junior Sam Pinkowski took seventh in the 1,600 (4:16.91).
On the girls side, Onalaska’s Amanda Wiebke took fifth in the triple jump (37 feet, 9 inches). The senior was half an inch from a potential third-place finish.
