Vikings sign 2015 NSIC leader in TDs, Ham
RB had a 3TD game vs. Winona St. last season
The Minnesota Vikings added to the 90-man roster Tuesday, signing running back C.J. Ham, who took part in their rookie minicamp last weekend on a tryout basis.
Ham is the latest regional prospect to catch the team’s attention.
The product of Duluth Denfeld High School played at Division II Augustana College in South Dakota, leading the NSIC with 16 rushing touchdowns last year.
Ham scored three of those touchdowns against Winona State in the second-last game of the regular season. The Warriors did hold him to 97 yards on 30 carries.
The Vikings’ best tryout success story has been cornerback Marcus Sherels, who was signed after rookie minicamp in 2010. Six years, he still remains as the primary punt returner.
And there is, perhaps, another story like that in the making with Caledonia, Minn., native Isaac Fruechte. The University of Minnesota wide receiver was signed in January to a futures/reserve contract by the Vikings after spending last season on the practice squad.
