Packers not done in free agency, looking at RB Hillman
Green Bay signed TE Cook on Monday
The Green Bay Packers rarely do anything in free agency.
One could argue the last big move was signing veteran defensive end Julius Peppers from the Chicago Bears.
Monday, however, the Packers dipped into the free-agent pool to sign tight end Jared Cook.
That, however, wasn’t the last of it. It’s now rumored that GM Ted Thompson could be looking at former Denver Broncos running back Ronnie Hillman.
Last season was the 24-year-old Hillman’s best of his four years in the NFL. The 5-foot-10, 195-pound speedster rushed for 863 yards on 207 carries (4.2 avg.) and 7 TDs. He also caught 24 passes for 111 yards.
Cook, 28, on the other hand, had 73 catches for 481 yards but no touchdowns from a slew of quarterbacks for the St. Louis (now Los Angeles) Rams.
In 2014, Cook had 98 receptions for 634 yards and 3 TDs with Sam Bradford at quarterback.
In both seasons, his yards-per-catch remained right around a 12.3 average.
