La Crosse Area Day to Miller Park should be about kids
Group is raising funds to take
kids from Boys and Girls Club
Taking the kids to a ball game is one thing that summer is all about.
That’s the focus for a group working with the Boys and Girls Club when La Crosse Area Day floods Miller Park this summer for a Milwaukee Brewers game June 30 against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Dan Stacey has been working with the Boys and Girls Club to get as many kids possible to Miller Park that day. They’ve already reserved two buses.
“It worked out well, last year,” Stacey said. “We sent right around 10 kids. Other people helped and participated when they heard we were working on that.”
Those who want to donate can contact the Boys and Girls Club here. Stacey said $100 will send one child to the game from the club, but any donation is helpful.
Ticket sales have begun for the event, which routinely attracts 1,000 or more to Miller Park — the biggest such community promotion all year for the Brewers.
Milwaukee mascot Bernie Brewer was in town Thursday meeting with kids at local hospitals during the day, before crashing the opening ticket sale party that night.
