from beyond the arc

MADISON, Wis. – First, Bronson Koenig nailed a 3-pointer to pull his team within a point with just 27 seconds remaining.

Next, the La Crosse, Wis., native found Ethan Happ under the basket for a layup in the final seconds that gave the University of Wisconsin men’s basketball team the 77-76 upset over No. 4 Michigan State on Sunday at the Kohl Center.

“I just got the ball (on the) inbounds and ran a double screen high and coming across the screen I could see that (Happ) was going to be open because they all kind of ran with me and Vitto (Brown),” Koenig said. “It was kind of a late pass, because he was open a little sooner and my guy was in front of me, so I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to give it to him on time, but I just took another dribble and lofted it over the guy and luckily he caught it and I knew he was going to finish it.”
