V-Hawks win, lock position in NAIA tourney
Viterbo finishes pool-play tonight,
but will move on win or lose
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – No matter what, the Viterbo University volleyball team will advance in the NAIA tournament.
The second-ranked V-Hawks won Wednesday night, 3-2 (25-18, 25-18, 24-26, 27-29, 15-11) over No. 13 Dordt College.
At 8 p.m. tonight, Viterbo (39-4) wraps up pool play with No. 12 Georgetown College (31-6). Win or lose, the V-Hawks will move on to the single-elimination portion of the NAIA tournament, though a win will give them a better seed. Georgetown is also 2-0 in pool play.
Against Dordt (24-7), Natalie Geidel had 19 kills, while teammate Sara Biermaier added 17 kills, 13 digs.
Viterbo’s Jennifer Krentz had 26 digs, while Amelia Grahn had 55 assists, 15 digs and Elissa Herman added 13 kills.
Viterbo held Dordt to just .138 hitting as six players had double-digit digs, including 19 from Jess Jerde and 15 Baylee Gross.
