V-Hawks continue at 5:45 tonight, 8 p.m. Thursday

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Viterbo University volleyball team won its first match of the NAIA tournament.

The V-Hawks, ranked second in the final NAIA coaches’ poll, defeated Olivet Nazarene 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-23) Monday in the first pool-play match of the tournament.

At 5:45 p.m. today, Viterbo (38-4) will play No. 13 Dordt College (24-6) followed by 12th-ranked Georgetown College (30-6) at 8 p.m. on Thursday

A win and the V-Hawks clinch a spot in the single-elimination portion of the tournament.

Against Olivet, Viterbo’s Natalie Geidel had 14 kills and Elissa Herman added 13. Setter Amelia Grahn had 33 assists and 13 digs, while Jennifer Krentz led the team with 18 digs. Teammate Jess Jerde had 13 digs, as well.

Viterbo hit .260 as a team, while Olivet hit just .113.
