Warriors ranked No. 22, fresh off an upset of third-ranked C-SP

For the first time in program history, the Winona State University volleyball team is ranked in the AVCA Top 25 coaches’ poll.

The Warriors are ranked No. 22, fresh off a 3-1 upset over then-No. 3-ranked Concordia-St. Paul. It was the first time in 25 matches dating back to Oct. of 2000 that WSU beat C-SP (6-3). Winona State also beat No. 16 Palm Beach Atlantic 3-2 on Sept. 4.

The NSIC is full of Top 25 teams. Minnesota Duluth is No. 1, Southwest Minnesota State is third, Wayne State is fifth, C-SP dropped to eighth and Northern State is ranked 19th.

The rankings will shift for sure after this week for a few of those teams, as WSU takes on Wayne State (Neb.) and Augustana (S.D.) on the road this weekend. Before that, however, the Warriors will play at Upper Iowa on Friday.
