Eight in a row for Viterbo over UW-L
Amelia Grahn nearly has triple-double for No. 2-ranked V-Hawks
The crosstown matchup between Viterbo University and the Univeristy of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball teams has been a lopsided one.
They’ve played each other 37 times since 1990. Viterbo won the first two. The Eagles won the next 23. And Viterbo has won the last eight (there were a couple years in there, the two teams went back and forth, if you’re doing the math).
Wednesday, in the V-Hawks home-opener, the No. 2-ranked team in the NAIA stayed unbeaten, winning 3-1 (25-17, 25-21, 31-33, 25-14). The all-time series now sits 26-11 in the Eagles’ favor.
Setter Amelia Grahn had 25 assists, seven kills, 11 digs to lead V-Hawks, who went to the NAIA Final Four last season and are now 11-0.
Jennifer Krentz, who will most likely be the V-Hawks’ all-time leader in digs when the season is over, had 32 against the Eagles in front of 528 fans. Natalie Geidel led Viterbo with 15 kills.
Jill Entinger had 13 kills, while Jaclyn Barrette had 33 assists, 14 digs for UW-L (7-3).
