Onalaska takes West Salem in OT

HOLMEN, Wis. – Back-to-back interceptions returned for touchdowns was how the Holmen High School football team finished off Tomah on Friday.

It was a seven-point game in the third quarter, before Kyle Koelbl went 40 yards and Aaron Zmolek went 75 yards for those interception returns. leading to a 34-14 win.

Koelbl had three touchdowns in the game – the other two rushes from 28 and 26 yards. He finished with 56 yards rushing on five carries.

Tomah was up 14-0 to start the game, before the comeback ensued. Holmen outgained Tomah just 238-233, but took advantage of four turnovers. 

LOGAN 46, AQUINAS 6

The Rangers converted five Blugold turnovers into touchdowns in the win. Manny Buchanan had 105 yards rushing in the win. 

SPARTA 34, CENTRAL 20

On the road, the Spartans got three touchdown runs of 36, 30 and 39 yards from 175-pound senior Jacob Edwards. 

ONALASKA 29, WEST SALEM 28 (OT)

WEST SALEM, Wis. – The Hilltoppers went for the win and Konrad Ernst scored on the two-point conversion to end things in overtime.

Jalen Sample caught the TD to pull Onalaska within a point, setting up Ernst’s run. Brayton Duin threw two TDs to the 6-foot-4, 180-pound Sample.

OTHER HIGHLIGHTS:

CHASE Grinde had four TD passes and Cullen Patterson had four TDs all over the field (2 rushing, 1 reception and an INT return) as Spring Grove beat Glenville-Emmons 61-0.

RYAN Wolfe had a 9-yard TD run and a 16-yard TD pass in leading Wabasha-Kellogg to a 26-0 victory over Kingsland.

CALEDONIA’s Owen King and Jacob Winjum connected on a pair of TDs (29, 6 yards) in the 34-7 win over Triton. King had three TD passes – the third for 49 yards to Colton Lampert.

TANNER Remlinger had four touchdown runs (15, 17, 2, 17) in leading Winona High to a 4-0 start with a 44-20 win over Red Wing.

TYLER Nelson had three TD passes for Houston – two to Jeremiah Johnson (55, 18) in the 45-24 win over Alden-Conger.
